Doctored James Bond
If you have a chance to read the March issue of Next Generation, make sure to check out the cover story on the PlayStation 2 Bond game, The World is Not Enough.  Despite the fact it is promoted as a PlayStation 2 story, the article contains screenshots from the PC version of the game running on the Quake 3 engine…or at least partially running.   The environment screenshots look amazing – I've never seen a 3D game look that good on a PC.  Unfortunately EA decided to doctor a number of the images, layering on particle effects, characters, and vehicles that aren't currently running in real-time.  (To its credit, EA admitted the image was doctored).  Can anyone say Tresspasser?  As John Carmack pointed out in my Final Hours of Quake 3 story last year, it's hard to judge a game by a screenshot today, and it's especially tough when the screenshot is manufactured.     I should mention that there are some non-doctored images in the article which still look stunning, but EA should know better than to hand out mocked-up screenshots.  Let the game stand for itself!

Coming Soon:
