BANG! Gunship Elite
From
Red Storm Entertainment

View the ad: Page 1

Sometimes game ads are born bad.  A case in point is Red Storm’s advertisement for the simplistically titled “Bang! Gunship Elite.”  It's evident that this game is a flight simulator, but beyond that, I’m completely lost.

First of all, the logo is so small and poorly designed that I had to spend 10 seconds trying to unearth the game's name.  Second of all, the entire “astroid crashes through the page” motif makes no sense at all,  wasting a ton of space which could have been used for bigger screenshots or some text actually describing what Bang! is all about.

Perhaps the worst of it is the text that regurgitates a fact sheet.  Besides promising the game will be “drenched in special effects” (whatever that means), I love the mention of “1600*1200 (GE256) resolution supported.”  What is GE256?  Is that some kind of mention of the impressive GeForce2 card from nVidia?  I have no idea, but you know a game doesn’t have much going for it when the highest supported resolution is one of six featured bullet points.

And then there’s the game tagline: “Everything Else is A Waste of Space.”  In light of this, my conclusion is just too easy to draw: If this ad isn’t a waste of space, I don’t know what is.
