KISS
Psycho Circus A general rule for advertising a game is to use a dark background to create a brooding atmosphere of fear and mystery. However, the latest ad from the Gathering of Developers for KISS: Psycho Circus bunks this trend by using an off-white color scheme. Risky move? Sure. But it also helps this piece of marketing break through the clutter. While an ad for a
KISS game could easily have been hokey -- "It's Time to Rock and Roll
All Night!" -- The Gathering uses illustrations
from Todd McFarlane Productions to create a distinct look which makes the game feel like more than just a KISS rock concert come-to-life. It’s also nice to
see that the text is more than just a list of how many levels and monsters
the player can expect to encounter.
Unfortunately, while many of those monsters are illustrated in the eight screenshots,
it’s hard to even see them given the miniscule size of the in-game
images. It’s always better
to have a few large screenshots as opposed to an encyclopedia of smaller
ones. The Psycho Circus ad
stands out on the page and has a great looking logo, but the small
screenshots make it hard to decipher much of anything about the in-game
action. Grade:
