I always love to
review ads that promise something that sounds great on paper, but makes
absolutely no sense when think about it.
A shining example of this trend is the latest ad for Blue Byte’s
Battle Isle. The marketers
for this product claim it is “where turn based and real time strategy
gaming meet.” ‘Wow,’
you say to yourself…but wait a minute, aren’t turn-based and real-time
games mutually exclusive? I
thought so, but apparently not in this case. It’s always a smart
idea to include images of game characters in the ad as done here, but the
tagline serves as the nail in the coffin: “She Missed Her Ex…But Her
Aim is Getting Better.” Is
this supposed to be witty? If
so, I’m clueless as to the joke.
To add insult to injury, the screenshots are small and give me no
sense of what kind of game I’m playing.
One shot looks like it’s from a third person action game, and the
other one seems like a scene right out of the old 3DO game Shockwave.
To say I’m utterly confused by this ad is a great understatement. Grade: D |
