Kingdom Under Fire
Phantagram and
Gathering of Developers

“Become immersed in your realm in over 120,000 frames of animation!” screams this ad for Kingdom Under Fire, a Korean-developed game to be published in late-October by Gathering of Developers.   When an ad has to start talking about the number of frames of animation in the game, you know something is wrong.  I can just see the ads now: “Experience 350,000 lines of C++ code in this game!” 

Then again, one look at the rest of this travesty and you realize everything is wrong.  The art is too dark, but most importantly, the ad has no message.  It's just there.   Frankly, if you tried to make the worst game advertisement possible, you might come up with something similar to this.   It’s a self-parody.

After all, what genre is this game?  Is it a RTS or an RPG?  One dungeon screenshot makes it look just like Diablo, but then the other images look just like an RTS.  Heck, maybe it’s a hybrid between these two genres, but the ad doesn’t tell me that.  All it says is you can “battle in a special RPG Deathmatch mode.”  Now this isn’t just an RPG Deathmatch mode…it’s a special RPG deathmatch mode.  Please.

Still, I’m attempting to explain away the unexplainable.  Let’s just settle this once and for all and give this ad an…
