Look for Bungie to give John Carmack a run for his engine money with
Halo!
|
Developer: Bungie
Every time I see a demo of this game I just
can't get over what I'm actually seeing. Whether it's the amazing wave model
for the water or just the sheer attention to detail, Halo looks like a
game cinematic come to life. Although not much is known about the actual
gameplay mechanic, the vehicular-based sequences I've seen make this look
like the technology of Tron meshed with a lush oraganic world. If
anything, Halo has a great look going for it; let's hope Bungie can
deliver the gameplay to follow suit. If they do make good on their
promises, look for Bungie to raise its capital quite a bit in 2000.

Delayed until 2000, looks for Diablo 2 to arrive early in the year
|
Developer: Blizzard North
Publisher: Blizzard
Despite the fact the ads all proudly proclaimed "1999" as its
release date, Blizzard's Diablo II is now a 2000 title, and perhaps the
most anticipated game of the early part of the year. Although
Blizzard doesn't look to have strayed far from the formula that worked in
the first game, this time out players will have a choice between
five all new character classes including a Sorceress and Barbarian.
With its prequel being one of the biggest games of the 90s, it's no wonder
this game is so anticipated. Let's hope it lives up the the hype.Find
