When we first heard about the development of a third-person action game based on Alice in Wonderland, we all thought, 'What, Disney is going to do a third person action game?"  Not quite.  Spend a few minutes with ex-id Software level designer American McGee and you'll quickly realize that he's not Gen-Y's Mickey Mouse.  Rather, McGee is a game designer with a novel idea: take the familiar themes of a classic fairy tale and putting them in a whole new – and mature -- context.   The result is American McGee's Alice, a third person action game set in the world of Lewis Carroll's famous children's book.   Beyond that, the creative liberty takes center stage; the result is a fascinating new game that promises to, at the very least, turn heads in the industry due to its intriguing premise.

Each day this week, GameSlice takes you inside wonderland to learn about the production of the game and show you an exclusive in-game screenshot.  While the product may carry its executive producer's name on the box, the development of such an ambitious title requires the efforts of over 30 artists, programmers, musicians and designers.   Together, they are working insane hours in order to let gamers jump through the rabbit hole later this fall.

Tuesday: American McGee Interview
Executive Producer American McGee tells us about the progress of the game and admits that with his name on the box, " it’s no one’s fault but my own" if someone doesn't like the final version.

Wednesday: Chris Vrenna Video Interview
Ex-Nine Inch Nails drummer Chris Vrenna contributed the score to Alice, which liberally uses childhood toys to create a unique sound.  Find out how Vrenna worked with American and the team to bring the aural side of Alice to life.

Thursday: Jim Molinets/Rogue Interview
Known for its work with the Quake engine, Dallas-based Rogue Entertainment is the near-30 person team bringing Alice to life.  President Jim Molinets give us his take on the game and its production.

Friday: Producer R.J. Berg’s Diary
Only weeks away from shipping, we get a page from the diary of Alice's producer.  In this entry he tells us that all the game's assets have been "locked down" and all that remains is final balancing.
