High stakes action in Crimson Skies

Crimson Skies
Developer: Zipper
Publisher: Microsoft

We first mentioned Crimson Skies after Microsoft's GameStock event in March, and it was looking even finer at this year's E3.  While many first person shooter games are trying to re-create epic movie stunts by using scripted sequences, Crimson Skies has the unique distinction of creating airborne stunts such as stealing a fighter plane – memories of Executive Decision anyone?

Crimson Skies is basically a flight simulator blended with an action game, but thankfully there's no Alt+Ctrl+Shift+F7 key combination needed to take off the air break.  Instead of concentrating on the flight model, the developers at Zipper have wisely looked to making a fun action game first.   They've also added a story around the action: you play daring air pirate Nathan Zachary and all the other characters in the game have unique personalities too.

Set in the 1930s, Crimson Skies has the potential to bring air combat to the PC in a way it has never before been experienced.  By focusing on making a fun and engaging game, the developers are well on their way to building one of 2000's most promising PC titles.  Crimson Skies is scheduled for release this fall.
