GameSlice: Recent Bond films feature strong female characters that assist 007 in his missions – not just in the bedroom. Will Christmas Jones be along to help Bond out in his missions as a sidekick or accomplice?  Why or why not?

Jon: A little of both.  Sometimes Bond will save the girl, sometimes the girl saves Bond.  It is a pretty effective partnership between he and Christmas Jones.  In the game, just as in the films, Bond is really driven to protect the innocent and punish the corrupt.  Christmas and Elektra are nice contrasts – both beautiful on the outside, but very different in their hearts and motives.  And of course M is part of the experience, too.  Like the movie, Bond will eventually figure out whom he should help at the end and with whom he needs to be guarded.

GameSlice: Everyone loves the trips to the lab to see what Q (and now R) has concocted for our hero to use. Can you give us some hints at the gadgets that players will be able to employ as Bond? How about the weapons?

Jon: We will offer a wide variety of Q branch gadgets and weapons within each of the four platforms, with some being unique to one or more of the platforms.

One gadget that the player will have at his disposal is Bond’s credit card lock-pick device.  On the PlayStation 2 and PC, this gadget will actually have a mini-game associated with it, where the player must first decipher an electronic code before the lock may be opened.  This makes the gadget something much more than just a key, and will require greater skill depending on the difficulty of the lock that is being picked.

Another gadget is Bond’s listening device, with which he can tap into phone systems and listen to various conversations.  This device will not only provide the player with in-game clues, but it will also help to fill in certain story elements, as well as provide an opportunity to bring more of the Bond universe into the game.

Finally, we will give the player a choice to use weaponry in an intelligent and humane way.  Aside from his trusty pistol, Bond will also have the use of non-lethal stun guns and tranquilizer guns if he so chooses.

GameSlice: Car chases and 007’s choice of cars are a hallmark of Bond movies. Are there plans for automobile scenarios on any of the platforms for TWINE?   Are we going to see a BMW Z8 in the game?

Jon: In trying to capture and highlight the best action scenes from the movie, we’ve opted for  lots of variety ranging from downhill skiing to sneaking through a nuclear facility. That said, you will see vehicles – namely the BMW Z8 – in the game, but you won’t be able to drive them, per se.
